Working Groups

API and Behavioral Model Working Group

The API and Behavioral Model Working Group is focused on defining the object models for each of the components and services on the DPU; both host system facing and control/management facing. This WG also defines the taxonomy of the DPU space related to network, security, and storage.  In the future, the taxonomy will include ai/ml and gateway capabilities.

Mark Sanders is the lead for this working group. There are regularly scheduled meetings on Thursdays at 9 AM Pacific. This working group also collaborates via this Slack Channel.

Provisioning and Platform Management Working Group

The Provisioning and Platform Management Working Group is focused on building solutions for DPUs in the areas of Discovery & Provisioning, Inventory, Boot sequencing, Lifecycle & Updates, and Monitoring & Telemetry. For the Discovery and provisioning area RFC8572 Secure Zero Touch has been adopted. For inventory OPI has adopted SMBIOS, For Monitoring & Telemetry OPI has adopted OTEL Specification, while leaving the Collector and SDK implementations to the vendors.

Gal Zaidman is the lead for this group. There are regularly scheduled meetings on Tuesdays at 10AM Pacific. This working group also collaborates via this Slack Channel.

Developer Platform/PoC/Reference Architecture Working Group

The Dev Platform / PoC Working Group is focused on creating a developer / test platform which mimics the DPU devices so that applications can be run and tested without having to invest in hardware. This working group is also responsible for building and maintaining the Integration CI  used to test builds from the project’s GitHub repositories. This group is tasked with creating a customer-driven vendor-neutral approach to PoC development.

We are looking for a lead for this group. There are no regularly scheduled meetings, rather the group collaborates via slack and ad-hoc meetings as required.

Use Case Working Group

The Use Case working group is focused on creating an open channel with the end users and potential deployment partners to gather desired use cases and to share the work being done by the working groups with the goal to get feedback from the end users and deployment partners. A secondary goal is to encourage more end users and deployment partners to contribute, take part, and join the OPI project.

Elad Blatt is the leader of this working group. This working group holds regularly scheduled bi-weekly meetings on every other Thursday at 10AM Pacific. This working group also collaborates via this Slack Channel.

Outreach Working Group

The charter of the Outreach working group is where recruiting for additional project members, events coordination, vision discussions, and marketing related activities will take place. Sometimes this group is referred to as the project’s non-technical, non-governing board activities committee.

Paul Pindell is the Chair of the Outreach WG.There are regularly scheduled weekly meetings which are held on Tuesdays at 7 AM Pacific. This group collaborates via this Slack Channel.
