We’re excited to introduce the very first OPI Summit on DPU/IPUs, happening October 17, 2025 in San Jose, California, alongside the OCP Global Summit! This new gathering is designed for anyone who is building, deploying, or simply curious about the fast-growing world of Data Processing Units (DPUs) and Infrastructure Processing Units (IPUs). Whether you’re a chip designer, systems engineer, software developer, operator, or researcher, this will be your chance to learn, share, and connect with others shaping the future of infrastructure.
DPUs and IPUs are no longer niche technologies—they’re becoming central to how we think about compute, storage, and networking. They take on critical workloads like security, networking, and telemetry, freeing CPUs to do what they do best. But as powerful as they are, they bring complexity. That’s where this summit comes in: it’s a space for the community to cut through the noise, share lessons learned, and discuss what’s working (and what’s not) in real-world deployments.
The event will feature keynotes that set the stage for where this technology is heading, alongside deep-dive sessions into architecture, toolchains, and deployment challenges. Expect technical case studies, practical insights into software integration, and conversations about how to make DPU/IPU adoption smoother for everyone involved. You’ll also see emerging ideas in lightning talks and poster sessions, offering a glimpse of the experiments and innovations still in the lab.
What makes this summit unique is its community-first approach. The focus is on open discussion and technical depth, not vendor pitches. It’s about cultivating collaboration between hardware and software experts, between industry and academia, and between those already deploying DPUs/IPUs and those just starting to explore them. By bringing all these perspectives into the same room, we’re hoping to accelerate progress and spark ideas that no single company or lab could achieve on its own.
If you work on the design of DPUs/IPUs, integrate them into platforms, develop runtimes and SDKs, or run infrastructure where offload is becoming essential, this event is for you. And if you’re simply curious about how these technologies are reshaping everything from edge devices to massive cloud fabrics, you’ll come away with a clearer picture of where things are headed.
You can already expect a day filled with practical insights, open conversations, and opportunities to connect with the people driving this field forward. Registration details, travel information, and speaker bios will be shared in the coming weeks.(Check out the full agenda here!).
Mark your calendar for October 17 and join us in San Jose as we launch the first-ever OPI Summit on DPU/IPUs. Together, let’s explore how these technologies are redefining the infrastructure of tomorrow.
